Mercury, son of Zeus, is the Roman God of communications, commerce and cunning. In Roman mythology he was an outstanding athlete, as well as a musician, trickster and an accomplished liar and thief.

Usually depicted in winged helmet and sandals Mercury is perhaps best known as the messenger of the Gods. Known for his speed, He is protector of travellers and brings good luck.

Mercury is the fastest moving planet in our solar system and spends only about a month in each sign. The planet symbolises communication, thought and learning.

Mercury's quick thought and fast talking is seen to best effect in Gemini - the sign of intellect, perception and versatility. On the reverse, those born under this planet have a tendency to be over analytical, which can lead to perfectionism, nervousness and an over-critical nature; qualities associated with Virgo, also ruled by Mercury.
